Wales' first biofuel processing plant to open this week

 

Wales' first biofuel processing plant will open near Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, this week thanks to the efforts of three local farmers.

 

BML Biofuel was set up by NFU Cymru members Llyr Jones and Medwyn Roberts and also Bryn Jones with the help of Menter a Busnes' Agrisgôp programme and an opening day will be held this Thursday, 12 June when the Assembly's Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones AM will be among the guests.

 

The company is also keen to invite any farmers from across North Wales who might be interested in growing oilseed rape, acquiring high protein animal feed or saving money with cheaper fuel.

 

The opening will take place at 4pm and the plant is located at Derwydd Farm approximately 1 mile from Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr on the B5105 travelling towards Ruthin.

 

Following the launch a meeting has been arranged at 7pm for NFU Cymru members. The meeting will give the members an opportunity to discuss current agricultural issues such as the CAP Health check, Blue Tongue and the LFA Boundary Review with Ed Bailey (NFU Cymru Vice President) and Meurig Raymond (NFU Deputy President).

                                                                                               

Paul Williams, NFU Cymru group secretary in Llanrwst said, "We are very grateful to Llyr Jones (Uwch Aled Branch NFU Cymru Chairman) for letting us hold this meeting on their farm. I hope we will get a good turnout of  NFU Cymru members. Please also encourage your friends and neighbours to come along."
