Author introduction:
Caryl Lewis is a successful Welsh author who was brought up in Aberaeron, Ceredigion before moving when she was 12 back to the family farm in Dihewyd in the Aeron Valley.
She went to Aberaeron Primary and Comprehensive schools, before going on to study at the University of Durham and the University of Wales Aberystwyth.
Caryl then went on to work at the Tŷ Newydd National Writers' Centre and the Welsh Academy, before venturing into the world of PR as a scribbler.
She published her first novel Dal hi! in 2003 - a novel for young adults, and in 2004 published Iawn boi? for young people in their teenage years, which went on to win the Tir na n-Og prize in 2004.
November 2004 saw Y Lolfa publishing Caryl's next novel, Martha, Jac a Sianco. This was a novel for adults, which tells the story of two brothers and sister who live in rural Ceredigion. This novel won the Book of the Year prize in 2005. The book has also been adapted to the English language by Gwen Davies.
