Severn Challenge
These days, we often hear about the Young Farmers' fundraising efforts. However, very few have gone to the same lengths as the Montgomeryshire YFC federation.

At the beginning of September, Ffermio followed 23 members on their trek as they cycled and canoed from the source of the River Severn to Tewkesbury, leaving their conventional tractors at home, raising money for the Wales Air Ambulance.
All of the participants are members of Montgomeryshire YFC, all from different clubs within the county. The members who undertook the challenge varied from 18 years old to 26 years old, most of which had no previous canoeing experience.
The challenge started on Saturday 28 August, high above the Hafren Forest, near Llanidloes, where the crew walked along the paths of Pumlumon until they entered the forestry. They then jumped on their bikes, and pedaled the next 24 miles to Newtown. It was from there that the hard work started! The crew canoed their way down the canal to Pool Quay, where they then joined the river Severn, Britain's longest river. 115 miles still faced the 23, before they reached their final destination in Worcestershire.
The challenge wasn't easy, having to travel an average of 16 miles each day....but the members' hard work and determination led to its completion within 8 days, totaling an enormous 148.5 miles!
