Alun Elidyr

Alun Elidyr Edwards was born in 1959 and was educated at Bryncoedifor and Rhydymain Primary Schools, and then at Ysgol y Gader, Dolgellau. He went on to study Drama at the University of Wales Aberystwyth where he graduated in 1980. His performing career began with Theatr Crwban, and he also worked for a number of drama companies including Theatr Bara Caws, Theatr Gwynedd, Brith Gof and Arad Goch.

Alun also worked as a Lecturer in Drama at Aberystwyth University, and before joining the Ffermio team in January 2005, he was already a familiar face on S4C. He has appeared in many drama serials on the channel, including Coleg, Yr Heliwr, Y Parc, Rownd a Rownd, Tipyn o Stad and Lleifior, where he portrayed farmhand, Maldwyn Vaughan.

After the death of his father eight years ago, Alun chose to end his performing career to take over work on the family farm near Rhydymain, Dolgellau where he still farms today with his mother. He divides his time between the family farm in Rhydymain and his home in Talybont, Aberystwyth where he lives with partner Catrin and their daughter, Elan.
